Our Community Initiatives

We are dedicated to supporting and enriching our community through a variety of events, programs, and initiatives. Below is an overview of our ongoing efforts, and we continually look for new ways to make a positive impact.

Annual Jackson River Duck Race

Each year, we host the Jackson River Duck Race to raise funds. The proceeds are essential for hosting and sponsoring a range of events and programs that benefit our local community.

Community Programs and Events

• Little Free Libraries: We maintain Little Free Libraries at two locations—the Dunlap Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department on Dunlap Creek Road, and in front of Iron Gate’s Town Hall—making books accessible to all.
• Terriffic Kids: At Mountain View Elementary School, we support the Terriffic Kids program, which helps elementary students build character, foster self-esteem, and develop perseverance and other positive traits.
• Alleghany Highlands Christmas Mother Program: Through this initiative, we adopt a family each year to provide them with holiday support and cheer.
• Covington Old Town Halloween: We participate in Covington’s Old Town Halloween festivities, handing out candy to children and helping create a safe and fun environment.
• Olde Town Covington Christmas: Our involvement includes organizing and supporting Christmas events in Olde Town Covington to spread holiday spirit throughout the community.
• Field of Dreams Kids Night at the Ballpark: Partnering with the Covington Lumberjacks, we host a special night at the ballpark for kids, offering them a memorable and engaging experience.
• Youth Leadership Scholarships: We award scholarships to young participants in academic leadership programs, encouraging their growth and development.
• Alleghany County Parks and Rec Kids’ Fishing Day: We sponsor and support the Kids’ Fishing Day, promoting outdoor activities and family engagement.
• Relay For Life Raffle Donation: We contribute to Relay For Life of Alleghany County through raffle donations, helping support the fight against cancer.
• Clifton Forge Little League: We sponsor Clifton Forge Little League, fostering youth participation in sports and teamwork.
